Pro-Russia gamers are trying to review bomb Cyberpunk 2077, following CD Projekt Red’s decision to halt sales of the game in Russia and Belarus.
The review bomb started on Friday, and you can see on Steam’s graph that over 2000 negative reviews were submitted for Cyberpunk 2077 following CD Projekt Red’s statement that they’d stop selling their games in Russia and Belarus.
Thankfully, Steam’s systems had detected that it wasn’t actual criticism of the game, and they’ve been de-weighted from the overall ranking of the game keeping it at its still Mostly Positive review score.
However, trying to view all the reviews for the game now will instead take you to a blank page, likely because there’s just too much spam to actually vet all of it.
Some users report, however, that many of these reviews were in Russian, calling the Polish studio “Rusophobic” for not wanting to deal with a country that’s currently illegally invading Ukraine.
“Due to the declaim of CDPR of forbidding the game selling in Russia and Belarus, the bad review is given without hesitation. The Nazism and neo-Nazism government in Ukraine shall be subverted, and the east Ukraine people suffered in the past over 8 years shall be liberated”, writes another review, as this journalist struggles to figure out how any of this is related to Cyberpunk 2077.
