The Steam Deck is officially available for reservation in select Asia regions. The announcement can be found here, with the Steam Deck available in Asia through Komodo. It will be shipping later this year for Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, with hopefully more regions to follow.
Those with reservations in the aforementioned regions can order their Steam Decks later this year, with the Komodo reservation queue separate from the NA / UK / EU regions. Additionally, in order to “introduce players to Steam Deck ahead of availability in these regions”, there will be a joint booth with Komodo at Tokyo Game Show that will include a large hands-on section. The post closes off with “more news soon”.
The FAQ provided through the Komodo reservation page can be summarized as follows:
- Reservation fee counts towards the full fee of the Steam Deck price
- You will be emailed in queue order once inventory is available
- Order invitations will be sent out in batches sometime 2022
- Only one active Steam Deck reservation can be active at a time, applicable to customers in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan
- You can only order the Steam Deck model that you originally reserved
There’s basically no changes from the original reservation for NA / UK / EU, should you be concerned. Stay tuned for availability.
