Starfield, Betheda’s action RPG that launched last year is reportedly being released for the PlayStation 5, along with other Xbox exclusive titles.
According to XboxEra, they reported that Starfield will be arriving on Sony’s current-gen console, alongside the previously announced Shattered Space story expansion that is set to launch sometime this year.
The site also claims that Microsoft have started additional investments into PlayStation 5 dev kits to support ongoing development efforts.
According to the XboxEra report, “Microsoft senior leadership have reportedly debated the various pros and cons of releasing more of their exclusive software elsewhere, and internally, not everyone is necessarily happy with the decision, but recouping the potential money ‘left on the table’ by not releasing elsewhere has arguably won out”.
Starfield isn’t the only title coming for the PS5 though, as in another report by The Verge, Bethesda’s upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is also allegedly coming to PlayStation 5, following its announcement for Xbox and PC back in January.
The site mentions that while Bethesda will launch the upcoming Indiana Jones game first as an Xbox exclusive, the game will possibly release for the PS5 some months later, with the company tentatively targeting a December 2024 launch for the Xbox and PC versions.
However, it’s important to take all this with a grain of salt as there is currently no official statement from Microsoft themselves as of time of writing.
