A Remake of Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic was teased at the Playstation Showcase and will be coming to PS5.
The original Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic is considered one of the best Star Wars games ever made and a classic Western RPG. It will be great to see it remade with modern graphics and updated gameplay.
Here’s how Playstation Blog described the remake:
A pinnacle of Star Wars Legends storytelling, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is set over 4,000 years before the events of the original trilogy and introduced a new story of new heroes and villains in an epic struggle for the fate of the galaxy. The team here at Aspyr and Sony Interactive Entertainment have joined forces with Lucasfilm Games to bring you a remake of this classic Star Wars adventure. We’re rebuilding one of the greatest RPGs of all time for a new generation with modern tech, features, visuals and more, while maintaining the integrity of the story and characters that we’ve come to cherish.
The remake is being published by LucasFilm Games and developed by port studio Aspyre, who has worked on ports for several LucasFilm Games ports in the past including Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
The game was announced as a timed PS5 exclusive.
The Knights of the old republic games are considered non-canon to the Star Wars universe since Disney bought the property. It is likely that the remake will remain that way but even so, I’m sure there are many fans that will be happy to see the ‘legends’ continuity returning for another game.
As of now the Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic Remake does not have a release date. The game is still reportedly in early production but I’m sure we’ll see more soon enough.
Star Wars have been seeing a string of new media lately. The new Star Wars anime project, Star Wars Visions will be releasing later this month.
