Last Idea, Square Enix’s smartphone RPG, shuts down on 29 May 2020. The notice can be read in Japanese here. The announcement apologizes for the sudden notice, and thanks players for supporting the game since its launch on 18 April, 2019.
Last Idea officially shuts down on 29 May 2020, at 15:00 JST. The notice says it has been determined it would be difficult to “continue providing satisfactory service” to players. Microtransactions that include gem sales, subscriptions and other paid services have ended as of 31 March 2020, 15:00 JST.
Any gems already purchased can still be used, and any subscription bonuses will continue past the expiration date. Should the subscription services be automatically renewed, the notice asks players to contact them. Notice of refunds will be informed at a later time. While the service is ending, the game promises it will still update the main quest to provide the final chapter.
Last Idea had a collaboration event with God Eater Resonant Ops some time back which may have brought in new players, but clearly that wasn’t enough. Last Idea itself had hack ‘n’ slash action made for smartphones, featuring a treasure hunter protagonist who finds a mysterious girl with amnesia, taking it upon himself to save her.
