Square Enix has announced the development of Emberstoria, a new free-to-play strategy RPG set to launch on mobile and PC. The game will be available on iOS devices through the App Store, Android devices via Google Play, and PC through the DMM Games Player in Japan. While an official release date has not been confirmed, the App Store listing suggests a potential November 29 launch.
Emberstoria takes place in Purgatory, a monster-infested realm where the knowledge of lost civilizations lies dormant. Players will navigate this harsh world, utilizing rediscovered technology and commanding resurrected warriors to ensure humanity’s survival.
The game offers several key features:
- Real-time strategic battles where players can team up with allies to conquer a central tower and face various challenges.
- Base-building mechanics centered around developing and customizing “Anima Arca,” a floating city that serves as the player’s headquarters.
- A character system revolving around “Embers,” otherworldly warriors summoned from hell, which players can train and equip.
- A fully-voiced main story featuring over 40 voice actors, with Live2D animations during character dialogues.
Square Enix has assembled a notable creative team for “Emberstoria.” Yusuke Kozaki, known for his work on “Fire Emblem Awakening” and “Pokemon GO,” is responsible for the main character designs. The musical score is composed by Masashi Hamauzu, recognized for his contributions to “Final Fantasy XIII.” Benny Matsuyama, who worked on SaGa Frontier Remastered is writing the main scenario.
The voice cast includes well-known performers such as Minami Takahashi, Ayana Taketatsu, Aya Endo, Kensho Ono, Yuichi Nakamura, Mariya Ise, and Koki Uchiyama, among others.
As Emberstoria prepares for its release, strategy RPG enthusiasts and mobile gamers alike will be watching for further updates on this ambitious new title from Square Enix.
