Square Enix’s former 5th Business Division has been renamed as the Third Development Division to work on a new project based on Final Fantasy XIV, according to Square Enix’s official website. The project is led by Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida who is now the general manager of the Third Development Division.
The project is currently under development as Yoshida seeks to recruit for more talented reinforcements for roles such as designers and programmers to work on the latter stages of the project’s development. Yoshida also added that he intends to “challenge the next generation” as he looks forward to applications for the project.
An update on Square Enix’s recruitment page also sees Naoki Hamaguchi, previously the project lead, become the co-director of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The game is currently under development and is expected to have its imminent launch soon exclusively for PS4.
Hamaguchi now shares the same role as the previous director, Tetsuya Nomura, who directed Kingdom Hearts III. With both of them now on the hot seat, fans can really expect Final Fantasy VII Remake to be a blast as they await for more announcements.
Naoki Hamaguchi is now credited as Co-Director of Final Fantasy VII Remake on Square Enix's official recruitment page (updated for the new fiscal year). His previous title was Development Leader.
