Square Enix has just announced a new World of Final Fantasy title for smartphones in the form of World of Final Fantasy: Meli-Melo, which expands on the series further. Themed as “casual,” the game boasts the same stacking mechanic from the original World of Final Fantasy, where you are able to stack up to six characters when they’re all small-size, up to four with mediums, and two with the bigger ones.
That is where the similarities end however, as when it comes to gameplay, World of Final Fantasy: Meli-Melo differs in that it will allow you to cooperate with other players. Players have access to a certain “Garden Dome” where they will be able to befriend Mirages as they explore the world of Valgallan. In addition, many of the original characters from the first game will be making their return.
Shinji Hashimoto will serve as game producer while and the role of director is helmed by Hiroaki Chiba. Drecom will oversee development and management. The pre-registration is now live in Japan at their official site.
