Square Enix Announces Nier 15th Anniversary Celebration Livestream

Square Enix has announced a special livestream event celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Nier franchise. The upcoming broadcast, scheduled for April 19, 2025, at 2 AM PT, will run for approximately two and a half hours and feature appearances from key figures in the series’ development.

The star-studded lineup includes series creator Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, composer Keiichi Okabe, senior game designer Taura Takahisa, and voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto, known for his roles as Grimoire Weiss and Pod 042. The event promises updates on anniversary-related events and merchandise, along with a mini live performance.

The Nier series has come a long way since its modest beginnings. The original Nier, released in 2010 for PS3 and Xbox 360, received mixed critical reception but gradually built a devoted following. The franchise reached new heights with 2017’s Nier: Automata, which has sold over nine million copies as of December 2024. The most recent entry, Nier Replicant, a 2021 remaster of the original game, also performed well commercially and critically.
