Update – 26/04/22: Sony has revealed that the third Spider-Verse movie will now be called Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, they have also premiered the first 15 minutes of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse at CinemaCon today.
The much-anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been delayed until 2023, resulting in the sequel to the film being delayed from 2023 to 2024.
This comes from a report from Variety that says Sony Pictures has updated its release calendar. The two Spider-Man films, which have been referred to as ‘Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’ have received new release periods.
The original release date of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, originally scheduled for October 7, 2022, has been delayed to June 2, 2023, while the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II, has been postponed to March 29, 2024.
Filmmaker Christopher Miller also took to Twitter today to say that they needed a little more time to make the animation better.
Some users have expressed disappointment in the replies to this tweet, but others say that the delay is fine as long as it brings about a good movie:
Correct. Take your time. I love the first movie, so if u even need to take a 10 year long break to make this one perfect, then do it.
