Nintendo has announced the release date of the long-awaited Amiibo of Sora from Kingdom Hearts, for players looking to complete their Smash Bros collections.
In a Tweet, they confirmed that the Sora Amiibo would release on February 16th, 2024, though other information like the opening of pre orders is not currently available.
Sora was the final character announced for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, with series creator Masahiro Sakurai describing him as one of the most requested characters since Smash Bros 4.
Unfortunately he also comes with a licensing nightmare, being co-owned by Square Enix and Disney due to the crossover nature of the Kingdom Hearts series.
The amiibo is based on his Kingdom Hearts 1 outfit, with him throwing the iconic keyblade over his shoulder, and it hasn’t been revealed if the amiibo would unlock any features for titles like Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, which is on the Nintendo Switch.
Thanks to the huge roster of Super Smash Bros Ultimate and the large amount of guest characters, a surprisingly large number of characters have been committed to Amiibo form from outside of Nintendo- with characters like Sephiroth, Joker from Persona 5 and Bayonetta all getting their own figures.
Some of these Amiibo figures even transcend art style, such as the blocky Steve from Minecraft.
