Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced the appointment of Hideaki Nishino as its new president and CEO, effective April 1, 2025. Nishino, who currently serves as Platform Business Group CEO, will maintain this role while taking on his new leadership position.
The appointment comes as part of a broader leadership restructuring at Sony Group Corporation. Nishino will work alongside Hermen Hulst, who will continue his role as CEO of the Studio Business Group, reporting directly to Nishino. This leadership structure maintains continuity in SIE’s gaming division, with Hulst continuing to oversee the development, publishing, and operations of Sony’s first-party content.

In his first statement as incoming president and CEO, Nishino expressed his commitment to leveraging technology and creativity to expand the PlayStation ecosystem. “We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation,” he stated.
The announcement coincides with several other significant leadership changes within Sony Group Corporation. Hiroki Totoki, currently serving as SIE chairman, will transition to become president and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who will assume the position of director, representative corporate executive officer, and chairman.
Additionally, Lin Tao, currently senior vice president of finance and corporate development and strategy at SIE, will be appointed as chief financial officer of Sony Group Corporation. Her successor at SIE will be announced at a later date.
Totoki expressed confidence in the new leadership structure, noting that after 30 years of delivering entertainment worldwide, this transition marks an exciting new chapter for SIE. The changes reflect Sony’s ongoing commitment to maintaining its position in the gaming industry while fostering growth and innovation in the digital entertainment space.
