Concept art for the upcoming Sonic Prime has reportedly been leaked online, via an artist who worked on the show.
While the original post has since been taken down, Sonic fansite Tails Channel managed to grab a hold of the concept art first, which seems to tally with the earlier “multiverse” concept teased when the show was first announced.
The Sonic Prime concept art seems to focus on a technological dystopia future where Eggman has already won. That being said, it’s unknown if Dr Eggman would be the big bad for the series, seeing as how he’s in a rounded-up pile of baddies in one of the pieces.
Aside from that, the Sonic Prime concept art also gives us two returning characters- Sonic’s sidekick Tails, as well as Amy. It looks like these will be multiverse versions of the character rather than “Prime” universe, as both of them are sporting some pretty radical changes to their design.
It should be noted that just because the concept art exists, it doesn’t mean these concepts will make it to the final release of the show. Concept art is exactly that- concepts meant to pitch the direction of the show, and if an artist accidentally uploaded it online there’s a good chance it was because this direction was already rejected and the project was set to move in another direction.
Neither Netflix nor SEGA have come out to verify the authenticity of the leaks, but given how quickly they were taken down and the purported source, it stands to good reason that these are the real deal.
