SEGA has released two new videos for Sonic Frontiers ahead of its release tomorrow, this time focusing more on the music of the game.
The first video is titled “Spotlight #3”, diving together with Tomoya Ohtani, the Sound Director for Sonic Frontiers, going over the details of his works thus far, the musical style for the game and his most favourite music.
As mentioned before, SEGA will be periodically releasing additional mixes of the Sonic Frontiers’ BGM and here is the next one.
This time we have “Ares Island Theme Music – Recording Sessions” giving a behind-the-scenes of the recording for the music of Ares Island, the island known for its desert landscape.
A few words from Tomoya Ohtani himself in regards to Ares Island is as follows:
During the recording process for the BGM of the islands, the setting for Sonic’s adventure, we incorporated vibrato from real instruments. For the BGM of Ares Island, the second island, we achieved a unique, desert-like sound through a variety of instruments, like the santoor (Iranian instrument), the duduk (Armenian folk instrument), the tabla and cajón (percussion instruments), and the tzouras, a smaller version of the bouzouki (Greek stringed instrument).
We hope you enjoy the music along with behind-the-scenes footage of the recording of each instrument!
If you fancy the music for this desert island, SEGA has also recently released another music video going for a more cyber-esque feel for their Cyber Space. Give that one a try as well.
Sonic Frontiers is an action-adventure game by SEGA set to release tomorrow, 8th November,2022 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. A digital version is available for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
