Despite the cancellation of this year’s Olympics, SEGA’s upcoming Sonic At the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is still on schedule to launch on 7 May 2020. The game has up to this point hit 1.5mn pre-registrations, and to celebrate the occasion the developer has revealed a new video that introduces a new minigame.
The teaser showcases a total of six mini-games, namely Tokyo Skytree Jump, Quiz Challenge, Egg Pawn Rush, Number Lock, Claw Game and Souvenir Search. Set at the state of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, players use characters from the Sonic franchise to compete against one another. The game even boasts a rudimentary story to tie everything together:
Sonic and his friends have arrived in Tokyo for the Olympic Games, only to find that Dr. Eggman has taken over the city! What sort of nefarious plan is he plotting this time?
Play through the story to unlock new and challenging Olympic events, stop Dr. Eggman and prevent the Olympic Games from being cancelled!
