SEGA has finally launched Sonic At the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 for the Android and iOS platforms. The game, which is essentially a collection of sports minigames, was put under maintenance briefly post-launch to fix certain underlying issues. Users have been advised to reinstall the game if they continue to encounter any problems. Now onwards to the actual game itself.
As previously reported, there are a total of six mini-games, namely Tokyo Skytree Jump, Quiz Challenge, Egg Pawn Rush, Number Lock, Claw Game and Souvenir Search. Set at the state of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, players use characters from the Sonic franchise to compete against one another.
The game even boasts a rudimentary story to tie everything together:
Sonic and his friends have arrived in Tokyo for the Olympic Games, only to find that Dr. Eggman has taken over the city! What sort of nefarious plan is he plotting this time?
Play through the story to unlock new and challenging Olympic events, stop Dr. Eggman and prevent the Olympic Games from being cancelled!
As pre-registrations for the game have surpassed the 2mn mark, all users will be provided with Training Points that can be used to unlock new stages and character’s actions. For more information be sure to drop by the official website.
