Solo Leveling will be getting game, drama and film adaptations, according to industry sources. The supposed anime people had been petitioning for has yet to come to fruition either, but the news would at least suggest that these other adaptations are more likely.
Solo Leveling will see a game developed by Netmarble, so we can probably assume it will be a mobile free to play title. While the talks are said to be ongoing for the drama, it will be under an American producing studio, with sources tipping Warner Brothers having an interest in the project. The American production is meant to pave for wider outreach of Korean content to a global audience, and will be available through streaming platform(s).
Meanwhile, the film is merely stated to be in review for production by an “international distributor”.
Fellow webtoon Tower of God has since received an anime adaptation, with a mobile game to follow. Meanwhile, The Gamer also has a game adaptation, but it would seem it has fallen into development hell. There’s God of Highschool, also with its own mobile game.
It’s early in the year so anything could happen, so we’ll keep an eye out for any development updates.
