Here are sneak peeks into the Harry Potter Magic Awakened game! It launched into beta on iOS via TestFlight, and thanks to Tap.io, we can get a better look into what the game actually is. From the clips and screenshots, the game is closer to a card game than an RPG. It does have cutscenes with 3D models too, instead of utilizing static sprites.
Cards have costs, of course. Your resource – let’s call it mana for now – will recover over time. There will be cards with varying cost, with 7 appearing to be the maximum. Battles occur in real time, so you’d need to make sure not to dilly dally. Even though it’s ostensibly basically a card game, it does have some free flying parts on your broomstick. Explore Hogwarts from the air!
The game does have gacha elements, as you might expect, to draw new cards. They’re quite beautifully animated when you look them up in your collection. If nothing else, the production value is there.
At present, there’s no news about when the game might see its full release, or if it will be launched outside of China anytime soon. It might not be a full-fledged mobile RPG some might have thought it would be, but a card game based off the Harry Potter series doesn’t sound so bad, not when it’s fairly well made like this one is.
