The Snack World is a game developed by Level-5. This is their fourth cross-media project prior to Yo-Kai Watch which has an animated series, a game and a manga series for the monthly CoroCoro Comic which will all be released this month. The game will be launched for smartphones, iOS and Android, in April 2017. While the 3DS version will be released in July 2017. Earning its title as a “hyper casual fantasy“, the world is made up of weapon shops and inns of traditional RPGs which also includes convenience stores, cafes, vending machines and ironically smartphones.

One of its unique features of the game is that it involves toys, real world items called “Jara”. The toys are equipped with NFC chips which then can be readable by the 3DS or smartphone to obtain that very item in the game. These are kind of like a collector’s items which are pretty cool to have. Jara has a few other brands which collaborate to create the toys that will be distributed by Takara Tomy. Just like any other items, there are brands. So you can pick any of the brands to follow or get a mixture of them; or all of them. They will be key-chains that can be hung on you which is easily accessible. Once the item is loaded into the game through NFC reading, the in game character will be seen having it stashed on its side.

Level-5 released the new trailer of The Snack World ahead of Jump Fiesta 2017 this weekend along with their manga series in the Monthly CoroCoro Comic this month. The TV animated series will be starting in April 2017 in conjunction with the launch of the mobile game for iOS and Android. The game release for 3DS is still slated for July 2017. A nationwide movie from the series will also be part of the project.
