Previously-announced fighter Annie is available now via a new update for Skullgirls Mobile. The 4.4 update adds a new stage, and Annie will also be coming to Skullgirls: 2nd Encore.
Annie is being described as a very combo-heavy character, even by Skullgirls’ standards. Skullgirls Mobile has a lot more simple controls than the base Skullgirls, with a much lower barrier to entry. Despite this, the trailer shows her pulling off a technical maneuver called Jump Canceling, where she loops her dive kick into itself.
Like many characters in Skullgirls, she has a parasite accompanying her. Sagan is that rabbit thing that follows her around, who has several long-range attacks to allow her to get in close.
Long-time fans of the genre would notice several of her moves are homages to other characters associated with long combos. A lot of her moves are particularly evocative of Dante from the Devil May Cry series, who also guest starred in Marvel Vs Capcom 3. She also seems to share some moves with Guilty Gear’s Sol Badguy, particularly his aerial uppercut.
Alongside Annie, Skullgirls Mobile is also getting a new stage. Stage 15 is a stage associated with Annie, and is the set where she films her tv show Annie of the Stars.
The end of the trailer also shows off Annie as she’ll appear in Skullgirls: 2nd Encore. According to the trailer, Annie will be available to download there some time in 2021.
