The recently announced Shining Force mobile game has showcased its first trailer, which you can check out below:
The mobile game is tentatively known as Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness, with the trailer having both gameplay and story beats. Besides looking to have new characters, you’ll also find classic members Max, Bowie, Mae, and Sarah. Presumably, more will be joining in eventually, even if the story for the game is supposedly set 1000 years after the first games.
At present, nothing has been confirmed about an English release, but RPG Site mentions that Hive has acquired the licensing rights to distribute the game in North America and Europe. Hive is South Korean developer Vespa’s Japanese subsidiary. 4gamer’s coverage appears to say that Hive’s distribution rights extends globally and the Asia region.
The game is currently slated for release in the first half of 2022, with a beta test apparently also planned. For now, we can probably assume the test will be limited to the regions the game will release in. Planned to be a free to play title, it follows similarly in the vein of Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights and Echoes of Mana, console games getting new mobile spin-offs, hopefully further revitalizing the series.
