Shin Ultraman: A Special-Effects Fantasy Movie or simply Shin Ultraman, got itself a new trailer. The upcoming film will release in Summer later this year.
Uploaded by the official Ultraman channel on YouTube, the trailer lasts 37 seconds long. In it, we catch a glimpse of the kaiju and the cast members, as well as the original Ultraman. The constant beating of drums certainly helps build up the hype, with an image revealing its summer 2021 release window towards the end of the trailer. You can watch it here:
Based on the original Ultraman series which aired in 1966, this film is written and produced by Hideaki Anno. Anno is famous for creating Neon Genesis Evangelion. As one of the most prolific anime series which focused on battles between gigantic life forms, it is easy to see why he is the right man for the job.
In fact, Anno also worked on the 2016 film, Shin Godzilla. Shinji Higuchi, who also directed Shin Godzilla, is reprising his role as director in this new Ultraman film.
Despite being over half a century old, Ultraman is still a widely popular franchise. Just two years ago, an anime adaptation of the series aired on Netflix. The second season of this Netflix series will also air later this year.
