Shenmue the Animation has at last gotten its release date, available for viewing on both Crunchyroll and adult swim. Fans can save the date for 5 February 2022 for Shenmue the Animation, from 21:30 Pacific Time on Crunchyroll for the subtitled version, and adult swim for the English dub version.
The original Shenmue game debuted on the SEGA Dreamcast on 29 December 1999, with the 13-episode anime intending to “capture the essence of its intrigue and action”.
The official synopsis given by Crunchyroll is as follows:
1985, Yokosuka. Ryo Hazuki has trained to master the Hazuki Style Jujitsu under his strict father in the Hazuki Dojo from his childhood. However, one day a mysterious man named Lan Di murders his father and takes the “mirror” his father was protecting. Ryo is determined to find the truth behind his father’s murder, but soon finds himself getting stuck in a war between the underground organizations…. Traveling from Yokosuka to Hong Kong, Ryo’s long journey begins!
