As of 02:00 JST, 28 December 2021, Shaman King Funbari Chronicle is supposedly no longer accessible to players outside of Japan. That’s fair and all, since it’s not a global release. A screenshot of a notice claiming as such is written as follows:
Apology and refund notice for customers playing in regions other than Japan
Thank you for enjoying Shaman King Funbari Chronicle.
We have regretfully confirmed that our application was mistakenly distributed on the App Store in regions other than Japan.
We are sorry to announce that due to the fact that we are unable to provide the service properly at this time, we have decided to suspend the service in regions outside of Japan. After the next version update, users outside of Japan will no longer be able to play. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this will cause to affected users while they are enjoying Shaman King Funbari Chronicle.
The next version update is scheduled for December 28, 2021 at 2:00AM (Japan time). After the update, when starting the app a screen will appear asking you to update, but you will not be able to do so.
We are also looking into the possibility of providing the service in regions other than Japan. We will announce any possible future service provision as soon as information is available. We would like to thank you for your understanding.
For users who have made purchases in regions other than Japan, please follow the steps below to contact the App Store to request a refund for your purchased items, as the service will no longer be available after the version update.
It would seem that this would have affected iOS players more. At time of writing, obtaining the app and playing it without a VPN on Android seems fine, though we wouldn’t recommend doing so should further issues crop up. Download it at your own risk!
Perhaps the fact that they are aware of players outside of Japan are willing to spend and play the game could encourage them to expedite the localization process. Keep your fingers crossed for 2022.
