Cygames’ Shadowverse has announced a collaboration with Kaguya-Sama, adding several new leaders to the game based on the quirky rom-com.
The collaboration starts March 30th, and will feature up to three new Leaders for the game. The first of these leaders, Kaguya Shinomiya, has already been announced.
Given that the game has parity between its Japanese and English versions, both versions of Shadowverse will get access to the Kaguya-Sama collaboration, although it looks like the voices will only be in Japanese.
Leader Kaguya Shinomiya is a Swordscraft-type leader, though we don’t know much about how she’ll play in the game. She features fully voiced lines by her CV Koga Aoi, as well as an animated portrait that changes expressions as the game goes on. She even has unique voicelines for greeting the opponent, such as a formal “how do you do”.
If the anime’s marketing is anything to go by, it’s a safe bet to assume the other two leaders are fellow protagonist Miyuki Shirogane, as well as student council secretary Chika Fujiwara. Alternatively, if the marketing was more geared around promoting the anime’s second season, it’s not out of the question that they might replace Miyuki with one of the main girls like season-newcomer Iino Miko or underdog favorite Hayasaka.
The Kaguya-Sama series has been on a roll, having a widely popular second season, announcing its third season at a special soundtrack orchestra as well as having recently started its English dub. Collaborating with a game like Shadowverse is particularly unique, considering the manga itself is just about two highschoolers trying to get the other to confess first.
