Grasshopper Manufacture has announced an HD Remaster for their 2011 third-person shooter, Shadows of The Damned.
This was announced via a humorous trailer that sees the game’s protagonist Garcia Hotspur shoot at Grasshopper President Suda51 and Community Manager James Mountain. It’s a very Grasshopper way of introducing a game:
Additionally, Grasshopper also used this trailer to announce their first-ever Grasshopper Direct on the 15th of June at 20:00 MYT, or the 14th of June at 9:00 PST.
It should be noted that Grasshopper had previously launched a mystery website with a countdown that would also end on the 14th of June. The website has not been updated after the Shadows of The Damned HD Remaster or the Direct announcement. Whether it is leading up to the Direct specifically or a new project that will be revealed at the Direct is currently unknown.
Shadows of The Damned was originally published by EA for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It stars Garcia Hotspur, a demon hunter who must rescue his girlfriend Paula from a Demon Lord named Fleming alongside his magic talking gun named Johnson.
The game was advertised as a collaboration between Suda51 (No More Heroes), Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil), and Akira Yamaoka (composer for Silent Hill). It never received a sequel but Garcia and Johnson made an appearance in Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, another game by Grasshopper.
