Negi Haruba, the creator of the smash hit Quintessential Quintuplets, has announced Sentai Great Disqualification, a new Sentai-themed project following the ending of his romantic comedy.
The project will feature a team of spandex clad heroes , complete with off-shoulder capes.
The manga will be serialized in Kodansha Weekly Shonen, the same magazine that Quintessential Quintuplets debuted in. It begins serialization February 3rd, the magazine’s 10th issue of the year.
From the single teaser image shown, it looks like Sentai Great Disqualification will pay homage to Power Rangers, particularly with the use of character colors and animal motifs. The pink sentai on the far right looks especially similar to the Pink Ranger due to the large “Eyes” on their helmet, and they all sport dragon-motif belts similar to other Super Sentai.
It’s interesting to see Haruba switch gears so suddenly, though with the little we know about this new manga there’s nothing stopping it from being about five Sentai who need a personal tutor.
Quintessential Quintuplets began serialization in August of 2017, and ended the series in February of this year. Since then the manga has been adapted into an anime, and the series’ characters have appeared in various mobile games as well as getting their own videogame.
