Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is undoubtedly one of the most difficult, if not most difficult, game to have released in 2019 so far. Given its pedigree, that should not come as any surprise. While veterans of the Souls games should have no troubles adjustment to the new mechanics, newbies are going to find it extremely challenging particularly at the start. As such, in no particular order, here are some Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice beginner tips and tricks worth taking note of as you delve in the game.
Take It Easy
Remember to actually rest at the idol shrines you see scattered around the map. It is easy to assume that interacting with it alone is enough, but you have to select the ‘rest’ option manually in order to restore both your health and consumables.
Moment 37
The core gameplay mechanic of Sekiro is the parrying system, known as deflecting here. By timing your blocks at the opportune moment allows you to quickly counter with a few quick strikes of your own. Time it perfectly and you can kill your opponent in a single blow. Even if you cannot master the timing of it, it is always advisable to block anyway.
Can’t See Me
Taking somewhat of a departure from the previous games, From Software has implemented a stealth system in Sekiro. Instead of engaging your enemies directly, you can sneak your way to your target and finish them off in one blow. Instant kills also work if you leap at your target from above too, so be sure to your the geography and infrastructure to your advantage.
What’s In The Box?
Be sure to check the offering box at the Dilapidated Temple area once in a while, as you will find random items there from time to time. These will be useful as you traverse the hostile worlds.
Red Alert
Every once in a while when you are fighting an enemy, you will see a red kanji flash in front of them. These essentially serve as a warning to the player that your opponent is about to use an attack that can neither be blocked nor parried. In other words, you will want to jump or dodge at that instance.
