Sega has just announced what it says is a “refreshing camera RPG” in the form Pashamon, a mobile game which transforms real-life objects into monsters, and is scheduled for a release within 2017.
The gameplay is divided into three parts, the first being the photography portion where players will have to take photos of different objects in real life. The game then identifies them and transforms them into monsters which have attack power. For example, if the game is fed with an image of an omelette rice dish, you are given a Ketchapa, an omelette rice monster. Really.
Next, the monsters acquired will have to be bred in doing combat. This can be achieved by mating two monsters, giving birth to a new one. Finally, you will take your creation to fight, either offline or online. If you are familiar with games such as Digimon or the lesser-known Monster Rancher series, you will sort of know what to expect from this, although the photography aspect of it does sound rather interesting. We will how to see how it translates into an actual experience.
