Second Wave, an upcoming competitive team-based third-person shooter with anime aesthetic, will be launching on Steam Early Access this week.
As announced by developer Challengers Games, players will be able to play Second Wave on Steam via Early Access starting from May 31, 2024 (UTC).
In the announcement, the developers noted that they needed more time to develop the game, and they launched Early Access for players to test out the shooter and provide direct feedback to help shape the game better for their new targeted launch window of 2025.
For the uninitiated, Second Wave is, as mentioned, a hero shooter with a diverse cast of anime characters, each with a unique playstyle, whether you choose to be a mage, an assassin, or a healer.
The game will feature a variety of game modes, including a 6 versus 6 Domination mode where players fight toe-to-toe to earn 1,000 points via capturing points and slaying monsters.
There is also a three-way-battle mode, where 3 teams battle against each other in an attempt to score the victory point by defeating each other and capturing control points.
Another mode will have 4 teams of 3 competing against each other to collect 24 or more Arcane Stones and hold onto them as long as possible to win.
There are also skins to dress up your favorite characters, and Challengers Games said that the store will be cosmetic-only with no pay-to-win elements.
For those who played the beta that happened in October 2023, you will be greeted with various changes for the Early Access launch, including the redesigned of the Trestyn map and user interface.
Another feature added is the ability to have a Private lobby for you and your friends to play. However, Ranked matches will not be available.
