The hotly anticipated re-release of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World has been delayed, missing its original Holiday 2020 release date.
In a tweet by Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, the game’s new release date is 14th January, 2021. Rather than post an image with a long essay full of PR speak, Lee O’Malley took his usual frank approach, summarizing his point in one sentence.
“Game comes out January 14th now”, he says.
The game will be a digital release, although he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a physical release. He does say, however, that any physical release would only be after the game’s 14th January launch.
While Lee O’Malley had been vocal in the past about Ubisoft stonewalling the game’s re-release, he’s said that this time it wasn’t the company’s fault.
“Ubisoft is not a person, it’s an abstract corporate entity that we project feelings onto,” he said in a follow-up Tweet. “Real people are the ones doing the coding and behind the scenes work to make the rerelease happen. They deserve your thanks and love. Thank you guys”
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is one of the most highly anticipated re-releases, seeing its 10th anniversary since the game’s original release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game was mysteriously de-listed after its release, leading to no way to legally obtain the game since.
