HK Hero Entertainment has just announced that the pre-registration for Sangokushi Taisen, the mobile version of Sega’s widely popular “Romance of The Three Kingdoms”, will soon be available on mobile platforms in Japan.
The game which features a match-type card RPG gameplay, is already released in China, where it has grown steadily in popularity since its release, with over a million downloads so far (at the time of writing).
Following the slate of the original Three Kingdoms series, Sangokushi Taisen is based off the renowned Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel as well as the historical texts of Records of the Three Kingdoms.
The storyline for Sangokushi Taisen will take place during the Han Dynasty in China, and will feature 172 Warlords and 6 types of soldiers that players can choose from– each with distinctively different movement and attack characteristics that can be employed depending on the situation at hand.
Sangokushi Taisen puts a heavy emphasis on a strategic prowess as players have to accurately determine the formation of their opponent, before strategising a formation of their own that would best serve the situation to their advantage.
According to the official announcement, the outcome of each match is determined not solely by the strength of a player’s Warlord, but also by his or her strategic ability.
The date of the pre-registration for Sangokushi Taisen has yet to be officially announced, but the game itself is expected to be released sometime in the third quarter of 2019 for the Japanese market on the AppStore and Google Play.
As of now, it is still unclear if Sangokushi Taisen will be released in other markets.
