Samurai Shodown will be receiving Gongsun Li as a new downloadable character on 5 August. She will be available completely free. If you don’t recognize her, she’s from the Tencent game Honor of Kings, a multiplayer online battle arena game that was not released outside of China, where it enjoys massive popularity. It seems a little strange to introduce a character that not many would know worldwide, but nonetheless, a free character to try is a free character.
Her profile is given as such on the official website:
To reasons unknown to anyone but herself, a dancer from a faraway land makes her voyage to Japan.
It is said her performance has the power to entrance and uplift the masses.
But few suspect her actual motives, which are to gather evidence against those who’s misdeeds towards the public have been kept a secret.
To the dancer, allowing ones to steal away others’ happiness is a grave sin, and she will stop at nothing for the betterment of the people.
The previous DLC collaboration for Samurai Shodown prior to Honor of Kings’ Gongsun Li was For Honor‘s Warden who was added to the game on 24 June. Unlike his fellow DLC crossover character, Warden was paid DLC, available as the final character of Season Pass 2.
While Honor of Kings is technically not released outside of China, it IS published internationally as Arena of Valor, available on both mobile devices and Nintendo Switch.
