RWBY Ice Queendom Anime Project Announced

Team RWBY Project has announced RWBY Ice Queendom , the latest anime project featuring their highly popular RWBY IP from Rooster Teeth set to air some time in 2022.

RWBY Ice Queendom is an anime animated by SHAFT, featuring direction by Toshimasa Suzuki and character designs by illustrator huke.

It looks like the anime project is happening almost entirely independent of its American roots, though very little is known about the plot of the series.

“I am so glad to be involved with the animation “RWBY” being produced in Japan”, says project director Toshimasa Suzuki. “We are producing it with the Japanese animation method while keeping the charm of the original animation with dynamic and sharp action scenes along with enjoyable conversations between the characters”

“Through a lot of trial and error, we continue to improve and aim for a beautiful imagery through graphic processing and hand-drawn action. Through this new animation, I want to continue delivering the success of team RWBY. For those that are new to “RWBY”, I want to introduce the charm of the story and characters. For the original fans, I want to deliver a new way for them to enjoy “RWBY”. ”

The project website isn’t quite clear on what Ice Queendom actually is, given that its summary seems to be the basic summary of RWBY itself, leading many fans to speculate if the project would be a total retelling of RWBY or a side story.

It’s most likely going to be a side story from early on in the show’s history, considering Yang’s new design shows her with both arms, meaning it takes place at the very least before Volume 3.

That being said a companion manga has also been announced, as well as a line of Pop Up Parade figures by Good Smile Company showing the new designs for the titular team RWBY.
