Marvelous has announced a one-week delay for the highly anticipated Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, pushing its initial release date from May 30 to June 5. The delay will allow the game to launch simultaneously across Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 version. The latest entry in the popular action-RPG and life-simulation series will bring players to the Eastern territory of Azuma for the first time, featuring Japanese-inspired visuals and unique twists on familiar Rune Factory gameplay elements.
Players who choose the Nintendo Switch 2 version will enjoy enhanced features including higher resolution, improved frame rates, and specialized Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for the game’s village building mechanics. Marvelous has also confirmed that customers who pre-ordered the standard Nintendo Switch version will have access to a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack, with further details to be announced at a later date.
In addition to the game delay announcement, Marvelous USA revealed a limited “Earth Dancer Accessory Set” box set. Priced at $49.99, this collector’s edition includes the original soundtrack featuring 56 tracks across two CDs, a 160-page art book, an Azuma-inspired folding fan, and a plush Woolby keychain, all packaged in a custom box. The special set will be available for pre-order exclusively through the Marvelous USA Online Store in limited quantities.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma continues the series’ tradition of blending action-RPG combat with life simulation elements. Players will choose between two protagonists and use sacred instruments to fight against the Blight corrupting the land of Azuma. The game expands on traditional farming mechanics by allowing players to rebuild entire villages while cultivating new allies and resources. The seasonal-themed villages draw heavy inspiration from traditional Japanese culture and feature both new festivals and revamped fan-favorites, along with charming romance candidates.
