Royal Selangor is really targeting that niche of geeks with disposable income. Their latest pop-culture collaboration adds the Spectacular Spider-Man to your home, available in regular pewter or gilded.
This limited-edition statue has the webslinger emulate his iconic debut in Amazing Fantasy #15. The base even includes a sculpted copy of the issue, complete with Jack Kirby’s cover art for the issue.
It was designed as a collaboration between Malaysian artists Alan Quah and Mufizal Mokhtar.
The regular version of the statue is limited to 800 units, and will set you back MYR 1950. Although the statue is mostly pewter, this version has the Amazing Fantasy book behind it in full color.
Meanwhile, the gilt version is limited to 200 units, and will set True Believers back MYR 2800. In this version, the comic book is black and white, while Spider-Man is gilded in 24 carat gold.
in 2011, an issue of this comic became the second-ever comic to be sold for more than USD 1 million. Many artists have paid homage to the iconic cover, featuring predictable characters like Deadpool and less predictable ones like Jesus.
Both the Spider-Man statues are available for pre-order on the Royal Selangor website, alongside other merchandise from previous collaborations with Marvel Comics.
