Rocket League, the widely-acclaimed vehicular soccer title is getting a mobile version of the game called Rocket League Sideswipe. Sideswipe will release later this year at a currently unspecified date. You can watch the short 42-second trailer for the game here:
Note that the video features alpha gameplay footage of the game and will most likely go through changes towards its official release. Currently, the game takes the 3D perspective of the original Rocket League and turns it into a 2.5D arena, something akin to sidescrollers.
According to developer Psyonix, the game will feature fast-paced 2-minute matches. Players can compete against others online in either 1v1 or 2v2 formats.
With a name like Sideswipe, players can expect Psyonix to implement intuitive touchscreen controls in this whole new ball game. There will also be robust car customisation features just like in Rocket League. Furthermore, Pysonix is also looking to add an online Ranking system.
Fortunately, Australians and New Zealanders can already try out the regional alpha test of the game. It is currently available in the Google Play Store in the aforementioned regions for Android devices.
