You can see the first trailer of River City Girls 2 below but please note, the content is in Japanese:
River City Girls 2 was announced to be in development in June of this year, with the intention of continuing the success of the first game. This time, it will include “online multiplayer” features after listening to fan requests, support for Japanese voice acting, and more content in terms of characters, number of levels, items, events, activities, and other elements. More information will be provided later.
The first River City Girls tells the story of Kyoko and Misako, two high school students who actually specialize in martial arts as they both explore six provinces of River City to rescue their kidnapped boyfriends, Kunio and Riki, the protagonists of previous games in the series. After completing the game, Riki and Kunio become unlocked as playable characters. The combat involved using in-game combo mechanics, including “counters”, throws, and special attacks while battling enemies.
For the sequel, there will be two new playable characters in addition to the four from the previous game. These are Marian, originally from the Double Dragon series, and Provie, from River City Ransom Underground.
River City Girls 2 will launch for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2022.
The game will initially be sold digitally for the Nintendo Switch, while a physical version is to be released later on by publisher Limited Run Games.
