For those of you tired of corporate passive aggression, there exists a cure- Rising Up, a free game by Erik H Jørgensen.
The game is available on itch.io and can be played in-browser or even downloaded, meaning you can play it how you want.
As a 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up, Rising Up features fairly simple controls, as you start by destroying an automated printer and go on to attack the rest of your office.
Similar to other brawlers you’ll be stopped by all manner of employees, some even wielding weapons like office chairs in an attempt to stop your rampage.
It’s actually pretty impressive how much work goes into the sprites- from the faithfully recreated Street Fighter-style intro to the different office workers out to ruin your fun.
Speaking of, the sprites are done by Lauren Gehin, with sound by Nikolaj De Haan with Jørgensen handling the programming on the title.
The game even supports controllers, letting you really mash it out like a classic arcade game, as well as sporting two different control schemes on keyboard depending on if you prefer WASD controls or arrow keys.
Indie games like these are always cool- titles like Vampire Survivors and Stardew Valley famously came from humble roots as well, with those titles sporting solo development team.
