Besides the horrendously generic name, RISE is a new Korean MMORPG announced by NXN. The company’s previous work was action RPG titled “RAVEN”, back in 2015. RAVEN itself managed to win 6 categories in the Korean Game Awards when it launched, so there is a certain caliber attached to the name. In any case, RISE, the MMORPG, will be developed using Unreal Engine. Check out the reveal trailer:
The game is meant to be compatible with PC, home consoles and mobile devices. Whether or not this also means there will be cross-platform play is not made too clear at present with this initial announcement, or what home consoles the game will be available on. Presumably it would be able to run on the current gen PS4 and Xbox, as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with maybe even the Nintendo Switch if it can run on mobile.
There seems to be an element of “character collection” as well as strategic battles which seems fairly standard. What’s unusual is apparently a focus on esports as well, so we can be assured of PVP in some form. See some of the screenshots available so far:
You can check out the NXN company website, which currently has its RISE MMORPG featured on the homepage. There’s no projected release date, but 2021 at the very least seems a safe bet.
