The previously China exclusive Re:Zero game, Re:Zero INFINITY, is now available in Taiwan, making it a little easier for overseas players to try it without requiring a China ID. The game is an authorized Re:Zero title developed by Tianjin Tianxiang Interactive Technology Co. and published by Black Tea Rabbit Studio. The China launch was earlier in 14 January 2020.
Re:Zero INFINITY initially retold the first three arcs of the series with the voice actors reprising their roles from the anime, with a later update involving the white whale fight and more still to come. In that way, it’s unlike the Japanese release of Re:Zero Lost in Memories, which is heavier on the visual novel aspects with its branching routes.
The game features a turn-based system with up to three members in your party, with three regular moves and one ultimate. Action Points, or AP, is gained from a normal attack and end of enemy turns, which can then be spent for stronger attacks. There’s also a meter that can be charged up to 200% for increased ultimate effectiveness. As with most of these games, elemental weaknesses and strengths are present.
Last but not least is character interaction where you can build a bond with characters to unlock side stories and backstories not from the anime, but character interactions are also presently limited. It’s not often China release games make it out of the country, so we’ll see if an enterprising publisher will do so in the future.
