Re:Zero game reveals animated opening ahead of its release next week

The animated opening for Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne surfaced online through Spike Chunsoft’s YouTube channel.

Surprisingly, there seems to be two different versions of the same animated opening. Apparently, Mayu Maeshima sang the song, “Reline”, for the opening, both in English and Japanese. Here is the English version (which also has parts in Japanese):

Interestingly enough, for the animated opening with English vocals, the text in the opening is also in Traditional Chinese.

As compared to the fully Japanese animated opening:

This is just speculation, but there is likely a version of the animated opening with English text that will feature in Western releases of the game. It just seems that Spike Chunsoft only uploaded the animated opening that will play in Japanese and Chinese versions of the game.

Speculation aside, fans of the Re:Zero anime should instantly recognise Maeshima’s voice in the game’s animated opening. This is because Maeshima also sang Long Shot, the opening theme for the second part of Re:Zero Season 2. Currently, part 2 of Re:Zero‘s second season is ongoing.

The Prophecy of the Throne will release next week on 28th January 2021. It will be available on Steam, PS4 and Switch.
