The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 is a gaming laptop that offers its users the durability, portability and power for their competitive gamers. As most gaming laptops can be heavy which are inconvenient to bring around to LAN parties, the FX504 is just at the right weight of 2.3kg, lighter than ROG Scar II. Also coming in as low as RM 3,299, they are sitting at a comfortable price compared to other gaming laptops with its high durability.

But of course, you want to know more about what you’re buying first and not just eyeing on the price. So here’s our review of the RM 4,399 high spec-ed ASUS TUF Gaming FX504.
Before that, check out our ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 unboxing video below:
THE DESIGN
If you’re looking for a fashion gaming laptop, the FX504 could fit your taste. With the black matte finish on its cover and deck, it gives out a cool gaming look on the laptop. On the lid, the Asus logo will light up in red to indicate the status of the laptop.
As the FX504 is built to be durable on the inside, the design on the outside shows through its chunky bezel on its display and on the deck of the keyboard with angular designs. Of course, the keyboard is backlit like most out there with red to suit the theme of the design. Though it’s lighter than most gaming laptops at 2.3kg, it does look a little thicker.
THE DISPLAY
Looking at the 15.6″ screen with 1080p display, it offers its users crisp images or videos. It’s sharp which is really important for gamers as every detail punched out on the screen is important to be noticed. Able to run as fast as 60Hz on its display, it offers a more responsive and smoother gaming visuals as well.
This is of course considering that if you are using the GTX 1050Ti version compared to the GTX 1050 processing power to run the games fast enough. Otherwise, you can tone your games down a little and enjoy at 60Hz on its FHD display.
As the FX504 is built for its durability, the keyboard is touted to withstand 20,000,000 key-press lifespan! The keyboard complete with a red backlit light and a handy number pad when needed. The only downside is it does not have a full RGB keyboard.
Nonetheless, the touchpad has Windows Precision that can respond to gestures which is good to speed up your working process.
GAMING PERFORMANCE
The ASUS TUF Gaming FUX504 is a gaming laptop after all – equipped with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 8750HQ Processor, 8GB RAM and a 1TB SSHD. It is able to run smoothly even though you are multitasking on it whether you’re gaming and streaming or having multiple tabs opened on your Google Chrome.
But unfortunately, it didn’t score well for Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition as the game requires a lot to output the best graphics of the game:
Below are the 3DMark and PCMark10 tests we did:
Of course with a GTX 1050, you can already play most of the latest games out there. But with the GTX 1050Ti, you’ll be playing at high graphics and 120Hz on that sweet FHD display. This is dependent on the variation of the TUF Gaming FX504 that you’re planning to get with your budget. But the best will of course be the higher end version at the price of RM 4,399 compared to the i5/GTX 1050 at RM3,299.

THE VERDICT
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 laptop is one of the cheapest gaming laptops that’s offered in the market. Its best feature is the ADC that helps ensure the longevity of your laptop’s system and provide a stable performance consistently. As most laptops have the issue with heat especially where your palms rest on the deck, the ADC paired with its Hypercool technology helps with it, a little.
With the different variations that the TUF FX504 offers, if you want the best out of gaming, it is still advisable to go for the highest spec there is which is at RM 4,399 that is equipped with the Intel Core i7-8750HQ Processor, 8GB RAM and GTX 1050Ti with 4GB VRAM rather than the lower spec-ed version at RM 3,299 with Intel Core Intel Core i5-8300HQ Processor, 8GB RAM and GTX 1050 with 4GB VRAM.
If you have a lower budget but want to get an NVIDIA GTX 10 series graphics card with Intel’s 8th Gen processors, then the TUF FX504 can be considered for your gaming needs.
