Timi Studios of China is reported to be working on Return to Empire for the Android and iOS platforms, alongside Xbox Game Studios and its subsidiary World’s Edge. The game is being dubbed as an Age of Empires game for smartphones.
A teaser site for Return to the Empires has gone live, and there we get a glimpse of the product through its in-game screenshots and a funny teaser trailer which uses the Age of Empires soundtrack. From what we have seen so far, the developer has to an extent managed to capture the feel of the series, although what actual gameplay entails remains to be seen. We will be shown more of the game soon when the developer posts a full demo video, so stay tuned for more details.
Regardless, it would appear that Return to Empire will tentatively release exclusively for the China market, with no word if there will be a global release soon or if at all. It would be unfortunate if it never leaves the Chinese shores, although there is the upcoming Age of Empires IV to look forward to, so there is that. For whatever information that is available right now, be sure to drop by the official Return to Empire website.
