Netflix is making a Resident Evil live-action series they have announced will premier on their streaming service on the 14th of July, this summer.
The story for this series will focus on Jade and Billie Wesker, adopted daughters of series villain Albert Wesker who survived an apocalyptic deadly virus outbreak caused by the Umbrella Corporation. Jumping to 2036 or to be precise 14 years since the tragedy, the twins still have to face a long struggle to survive in a world that is still terrorized by bloodthirsty zombies.

Apart from the theme of survival horror that tries to be the main focus, the film also pays attention to Jade’s background as a character, including her relationship with her father and sister, Billie.
The film will be divided into two different timelines, one seeing the girls grow up and Umbrella create the virus and the second after the outbreak and how they deal with the undead world.
The cast includes several well-known actors, starting from Lance Reddick (Oz, Horizon Zero Dawn) as Albert Wesker and accompanied by Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and more.
Resident Evil has had a rather rocky history with live-action adaptations with both the W.S. Anderson movies and the recent reboot film ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City’ being derided by fans for their poor quality writing and inaccuracy to the original video games.
The premise of this series also seems to diverge heavily from the source material however that may not necessarily be a bad thing. The fact that it seems so different may give the crew more freedom to make their own interpretation of Resident Evil without being bound to the original games and getting that world correct.
This is especially important considering Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City tried to squish in so much from the games that it made the movie a complete mess, and it still got certain characters wrong.
The Netflix live-action Resident Evil series will begin streaming on July 14, 2022. More details including the premiere trailer will soon follow as we approach the premiere date.
