Resident Evil 3 remake covers leaked!

Previously, we covered a rumour regarding a Resident Evil 3 remake, and these leaked covers seem to confirm its existence! Via Gematsu, the games tracker on Gamstat has added covers for the game. The tracker works by tracking everything added to the PlayStation store. You can see the three covers below in full, as hosted on Sony’s servers:

Considering how well received Resident Evil 2′s remake was received – having gone Gold for Playstation – it’s not surprising Capcom would look to bring their old games back to life. Even if the monsters aren’t. We can probably safely assume that’s Jill Valentine on the cover, alongside someone who is probably not Nikolai Zinoziev. Is this a new character?

With how RE2 had two storylines for Leon and Claire, perhaps this is Capcom intending to tap into that once again. Other than that, what do they mean by a “Z Version”? A collector’s cover? Additional content? More Zombies? Who knows?

That’s all we can get for now. It’ll be great to see Nemesis look more imposing in a new engine, though we’d just as likely see him get the Mr X mod treatment on PC too. We’ll look out for more news as it comes out. What do you want to see most out of this Resident Evil 3 remake?
