The upcoming space opera Relayer has announced its platforms, as well as other details for the mech game in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu.
The magazine had a multiple-page spread on the upcoming title, along with plenty of details about the setting and release of the game. Relayer will release on the following platforms, PS5 and PS4. However, no release date has been given for the title.
Relayer Game Details
The mechs in Relayer are called Stella Gear, and players will control multiples of them in turn-based battles. The Stella Gear will be separated into 4 classes: Assault, Tank, Sniper and Scout.
In an interview with the developers, it looks like the game is explicitly not going to be a tactics game a la XCom and Battle Tech, but will still be a strategy game. The developers have said you won’t have to factor in things like terrain and elevation, however it very much would still include strategy elements.
You’ll play as the Star Child Terra, another entity that has awakened following the appearance of the Relayer, an extraterrestrial lifeform that appears human-sized. The developers have said to expect some epic bossfights, describing a size disparity akin to a person and Mt. Fuji in the interview.
The game will also have a host of characters joining the Star Child Terra, which you’ll be able to learn more about through their own sub stories. According to Famitsu, there’ll be “over 30 main characters” in the game.
