Malaysia will play host to the PUBG Malaysia National Championship (PMNC) 2018, the first PUBG Mobile tournament in the country. The tournament will begin with state qualifiers in Sarawak, Sabah, Johor and Kuala Lumpur starting this Saturday (22 December).
Organized by Tencent Games, the tournament will feature a RM60,000 prize pool, a large sum for a mobile game tournament. Joint sponsors, Vivo and Yoodo, will also include other rewards in addition to the prizepool. 16 units of Vivo V11i smartphones are up for grabs while Yoodo will provide a year’s worth of mobile connectivity to said devices.
Prior to the main event, players will have to go through the state qualifiers. The top 4 teams from each qualifier will move on to the Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur on the 26th of January 2019. The dates and venues of the qualifiers are below:
Johor Qualifier: 22 December 2018, Aeon Tebrau City, Johor
Sabah Qualifier: 25 December 2018, Kompleks Karamunsing, Sabah
Sarawak Qualifier: 06 January 2019, Emart Batu Kawa, Sarawak
Kuala Lumpur Qualifier: 12 January 2019, Sunway Velocity Level 3, Kuala Lumpur
Grand Finals: 26 January 2019, Vanity Atrium, Sunway Velocity, Kuala Lumpur (16 Teams)
On the other hand, the organizers will provide players with devices to play with during the tournament. However, they added that players should prepare their own in case of unavoidable issues.
