You can opt for an automatic refund should you feel dissatisfied over the recently released Warcraft 3: Reforged. You can check out the comments of other players on the official subreddit, but it would seem that refunds are available no matter how long you’ve played.
There has since been a forum post by Community Manager Kaivax from the team regarding at least some of these issues. It begins with an apology regarding the unmet expectations, and plans for moving forward. Patches and updates are promised, calling Warcraft 3: Reforged an “integral” part of the Blizzard DNA.
The Classic Mode visual bug has been identified and a fix is currently in testing to be incorporated in a larger patch that will include portrait animation fixes, audio bugs, UI fixes and more. This patch is expected for later in the week, with patch notes to follow. Another major patch will be for the online features, namely, leaderboards and clans which apply to all Warcraft 3 players. Release plans are promised in time.
Individual concerns that aren’t planned to be addressed at present include:
- The removal of tournaments and Reigns of Chaos ruleset, which players can look for in custom games with similar rulesets for now
- The in-game cutscenes are not meant to “steer too far” from the original, simply rebuilt with new animations and higher fidelity art
As you can see from the Metacritic score, players have definitely not been happy over the release. Critics seem at least kinder, with an average score of 60, but we’ll have to see how the game moves forward from here to see if people would still rather refund Warcraft 3: Reforged.
