Leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, Razer, successfully concludes the region’s first Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp in Singapore.
Over 2 days, world-renowned Dota 2 team Evil Geniuses honed the skills of national esports teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines. These teams will be competing at SEA Games 2019, from 5 to 10 December in Manila, Philippines. This is the first time esports is recognized as a medaled event. Razer is the official esports partner of the SEA Games 2019. The bootcamp is another first, where professional esports players were on hand to coach national teams.
The bootcamp is part of Razer’s long-term vision to develop Southeast Asia’s esports scene. 600 million viewers are expected for the SEA Games. Many of them would be exposed, for the first time, to the fast-growing phenomenon of esports.
Evil Geniuses’ coach Sam ‘BuLba’ Sosale expressed his pleasure working together with the national teams, saying the players dedication and laser focus to their sport as ‘inspiring’. He’ll be looking forward to seeing them excel in the upcoming games.
Competing athletes will be armed with Razer’s latest innovations in professional esports gear across 14 years of expertise. The Razer Viper, the recently-launched lightweight gaming mouse with optical switches designed in close collaboration with esports professionals, will be featured as the official gaming mouse of the SEA Games 2019.
Alvin Juban, National Team Manager and Co-President of the Philippine SEA Games Esports Union had this to say:
This was a well-timed opportunity for us to meet and consult like-minded peers ahead of the competitions. It is only through these dynamic exchanges that we can build better frameworks for team building – which will extend to strategic grassroots development in our country and across the ASEAN. We hope to bind our cooperation with Razer to continue our momentum in growing esports, the right way.
Venue partner *SCAPE and broadcast partner Singtel also supported the Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp. Learn more about the SEA Games 2019 here.
